The Abu Dhabi–Fujairah passenger line has passed 70,000 tickets sold since it began operating on 30 June, according to figures reported in early August. Beyond the headline number, the milestone signals something useful for anyone planning a private trip: the mountainous east coast, long treated as a full-day expedition, is now a comfortable, predictable segment of the map.
A fast new link to the eastern emirates
The introductory service connects Abu Dhabi and Fujairah across roughly 250 kilometres, covering the distance in about one hour and 45 minutes at speeds of up to 200 km/h. The fleet runs 13 trains, each seating up to 400 people, with a Comfort fare of AED 55 and a Premium fare of AED 120 that adds wider seats and complimentary onboard refreshments.
The operator notes that passengers now book roughly 12 days ahead on average, a sign the line is being planned into itineraries rather than tried once as a novelty. A Dubai station is scheduled to open on 30 September, which will widen the network further and make the same corridor reachable from the city as well.
