Etihad has put its flagship back in the air. From Monday 26 October 2026 the carrier began daily Airbus A380 flights between Abu Dhabi and Bangkok, and the real story is not the destination but the cabin the aircraft carries.
A daily A380 to Thailand
On 26 October 2026 Etihad launched a daily Airbus A380 service between Zayed International in Abu Dhabi and Bangkok, its first A380 route to Thailand. Flight EY402 leaves Abu Dhabi at 21:20 and lands in Bangkok at 06:35 the next morning, while EY403 departs Bangkok at 08:35 and returns to Abu Dhabi at 12:20.
The move follows the daily A380 to Tokyo launched in June 2026, and the airline frames the larger aircraft as extra capacity for the winter season across Thailand, the Middle East and Europe. For its most demanding passengers, though, the point is the cabins fitted to this jet.
The most private way to fly
The A380 carries The Residence, a private suite of roughly 125 square feet for up to two guests with a separate living room, a bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a full-height shower — what Etihad calls the world's only three-room suite in the sky. It comes with a dedicated cabin crew, a personalised menu, loungewear and bedding.
Below it sit nine First Class Apartments, each with sliding doors, a reclining leather chair and an ottoman that folds out into an 80.5-inch bed. On the ground, Residence and First guests receive Etihad's chauffeur service and a private lounge suite in Abu Dhabi, so the experience begins and ends in the capital rather than at the aircraft door.
What it means for a private UAE trip
For a traveller planning a private, non-group stay in the Emirates, the signal is clear: Abu Dhabi keeps strengthening as the base for the most exclusive way to fly. Arriving or leaving through the capital pairs naturally with a chauffeured ground programme and a quiet airport routine instead of a crowded terminal.
It also makes an ultra-private UAE-plus-Asia itinerary easier: a tailored stay across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, then an onward flight to Bangkok in a flying apartment. We can align your private touring days with these schedules so the premium cabin and the car waiting at the kerb feel like one seamless journey.
Etihad's flagship A380, with The Residence and First Class Apartments, now leaves Abu Dhabi for Bangkok every day — a quiet confirmation that the capital is the base for the most private way to fly, and a neat anchor for a bespoke UAE itinerary.
