Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, the superyacht-inspired resort on the peninsula beside Burj Al Arab, has unveiled its final dining venue: 1206, opening on 30 October 2026. Named after a once-hidden room on the fourth floor, it is built around restraint and a view rather than noise, which makes it a natural fit for a trip planned privately rather than in a group.
A hidden room, revealed
Reported on 6 October 2026, 1206 is the last food-and-beverage opening to complete Marsa Al Arab's story. The name comes from a room on level four that was kept out of view during the resort's debut, and the restaurant keeps that sense of a space you are let into rather than one you simply walk past.
The kitchen is led by head chef Stephanie Haywood, whose career runs through Michelin-starred rooms in the UK, Scandinavia and the GCC, with a hands-on background in fermentation, foraging, butchery and open-fire cooking. The menu is rooted in British cooking with French, Mediterranean and Scandinavian influences, built on seasonality and whole-ingredient cooking. Interiors are by AvroKO in warm, earthy tones drawn from Levantine coastal architecture, with an expansive terrace and a herb garden, and a wine list that leans on small producers and grower Champagne.
Why it suits a private trip
For a traveller who prefers a private table to a crowded dining hall, the appeal is the intimacy of the hidden-room format and an uninterrupted horizon that reaches from Jumeirah Burj Al Arab to Burj Khalifa. The cooking is deliberately understated, letting the produce and the view carry the evening rather than theatrics.
The setting helps too. Marsa Al Arab sits on its own peninsula with a D-Marin marina of 82 berths, so an evening here folds easily into bespoke logistics — arriving by chauffeured car from your hotel, or by water from the marina, and keeping the pace unhurried.
Folding it into a private evening
Because the room is small and tucked away, it rewards reserving ahead rather than walking in, and the 30 October opening lands right at the start of Dubai's cooler season, when the terrace is at its best. It works well as the still centre of an evening, after a private city tour or a round of viewpoints at dusk.
The simplest plan is a private chauffeur for the night, with the restaurant as the fixed point and the rest of the evening — skyline, marina, a late drive along the coast — arranged around it, so nothing feels rushed or shared with a schedule you did not set.
A quiet, view-led restaurant in a once-hidden room, opening 30 October 2026, that slots neatly into a privately planned Dubai evening.
