Etihad Airways is adding a new dot to its European map: from 21 October 2026, the airline opens the first direct route between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg. Etihad becomes the first Middle Eastern carrier to link the UAE capital with this European financial centre non-stop.
What Etihad announced
According to The National, the flights will run three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The direct line removes the connection that used to be unavoidable on the way from Luxembourg to the UAE and trims the journey to a single flight.
Luxembourg is small in size, yet it is one of Europe's key hubs for private banking and wealth management. A non-stop flight from Abu Dhabi opens a convenient gateway into the Emirates for the affluent Benelux audience, and gives UAE residents, in turn, a short path to the European financial hub.
What it means for a private trip
For a private traveller, a direct flight means, above all, predictable logistics. Landing in Abu Dhabi without a layover means a private transfer can be arranged straight from the aircraft, a residence or luxury hotel booked, and a bespoke programme started the same day, without losing a full day to a connection.
Abu Dhabi is a convenient point of entry for a premium itinerary: the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan and the Saadiyat cultural island are all close by, while Dubai is an hour to ninety minutes away by car. A private trip lets you combine both capitals in one route with a personal guide and driver, setting the pace to suit yourself rather than a group schedule.
The direct Abu Dhabi–Luxembourg line is one more premium entry into the UAE that makes a private trip from Europe simpler on logistics.
